Queen West House

The renovation of this Victorian house contrasts the historic structure with new insertions to open it up and expand the sense of space allowing a reinterpretation appropriate for contemporary life. A dialogue of forms and light, the great room of this house is a two storey glazed space surrounded by more intimate scaled areas with birch ply ceilings. Like a ship’s hull the southern wall curves in 2 directions while the north cuts back to reveal a slanting glass skylight. Above a loft-like balcony bedroom hangs below the gently sloping roof.
